Prepare For Your Landscape Consultation: Key Questions To Consider

We have developed a questionnaire that we strongly recommend clients review and discuss before their landscape consultation. This helps ensure that during the consultation, there is ample time to delve into any questions or ideas you may have. While our team members will provide guidance, answer questions, and offer suggestions tailored to your project, the questionnaire serves as a tool to help you contemplate your landscape design preferences and explore various options you may be interested in.

KEY QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER:

To get the most out of your landscaping consultation, we would suggest considering the following questions prior to arranging a landscaping consultation:

Determine a list of elements that you would like to have incorporated into your landscaping project and organize them  according to priority. Some sample questions that may help you with creating your list of desired elements are provided below:

  • Are there any particular styles of landscape design that you prefer?
  • Modern, traditional, zen, rustic, contemporary, naturalized (native), informal, etc. 
  • Do you want a new paver patio or slab patio installed?​​
  • Do you want a new paver or slab driveway installed?
  • Do you want paver walkways or slab walkways throughout your property?
  • Do you want a solid path or a path created with stepping stones?​
  • Do you want to incorporate a retaining wall into your project?
  • Do you want it to be used for seating, aesthetics, or structural purposes?
  • Do you want an outdoor kitchen or outdoor bar installed?​
  • Do you want a pergola installed?
  • Is privacy a concern?
  • Do you want privacy screens installed or foliage (trees/shrubs)?​
  • Are you looking at having new sod installed, seeding your property, or installing artificial turf?​
  • What type of stone or mulch are you hoping to have installed in your project? 
  • Decorative stone: black granite (1/4", 3/4", 1 1/2", 4+"), red granite (1 1/2"), buckshot/pea gravel (6mm or 10mm), riverbed stone (3/4", 1 1/2", 2-4", 4+"), richer lake stone (1 1/2").​​
  • Mulch: black mulch, brown mulch, natural mulch.​
  • Do you want to incorporate boulders into your landscape design?
  • Black granite or fieldstone.​​​
  • Do you want wood structures incorporated into the design?
  • Pergola, benches, tables, etc.​
  • Do you want to have a pondless waterfall installed into your backyard?
  • What is your desired level of maintenance?​
  • Have you considered installing a sprinkler system?
  • Do you want landscape lighting installed throughout your property?
  • Do you want solar lights or wired landscape lighting?​​​​
  • Establish a budget for how much you are comfortable with investing in your landscaping project. ​​This is important as it will allow our landscape designers to construct a project that works with your budget.​
